What is a RAG system and how does it work?

RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) combines document search with AI text generation. The system searches your knowledge base, finds relevant passages and formulates a precise answer from them – with a source citation to the original document. That way you get current, verifiable answers instead of AI hallucinations.

How does AI knowledge management differ from a normal search?

Classic search finds documents by keyword – you get a list and have to read it yourself. AI knowledge management understands meaning and context: you ask "what is our holiday policy?" and get a direct answer with a reference to the HR policy.
